The City of Shreveport’s Fair Share Program seeks to enforce the City’s policy of providing and ensuring contracting/purchasing opportunities for small and economically disadvantaged businesses. It is the intent of the program to level the economic playing field of our community. The ultimate goal of the program is to enhance economic development in the area through the growth and development of these businesses.

 

Further, the City seeks to offer adequate programs and services to assist all of the businesses in our area. In keeping with this commitment, the City provides technical assistance and a strong advocacy component for the benefit of program clientele.

HISTORY
The Fair Share Program was adopted by the City Council as Ordinance # 105, linked rainbow handsArticle VIII, Section 2-401- 2-426 on July 27, 1999. The Program was put into full effect on January 1, 2000. Since the inception of the Program, approximately 500 individuals and businesses have been certified to participate in the Fair Share Program.


SERVICES
The Office of Fair Share offers a comprehensive slate of services and technical assistance to its clients.


SUPPORT
Advocacy support is rendered whenever necessary to clarify or enhance the condition of the program participants.

Participation Goal

 

The City of Shreveport has set a 25 % goal on all city-funded procurements that are bid and contracts entered.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Citizens or lawful permanent residents of U.S.
  • Each individual owner's net worth may not exceed $250,000.
  • The company must be owned & controlled by one or more economically disadvantaged individuals.
  • Must perform a lawful, commercially useful function.
  • Business net worth at time of application may not exceed $750,000 (waived if capital intensive).
Becoming Certified To Participate In The Fair Share Program Is As Simple As...

  1. Complete and submit a Fair Share Program Certification Affidavit, Vendor Application and a W-9 or call Karen M. Barnes at (318) 673-5060 for an application package.

     

    Get Certification Affidavit form

    Get Vendor Application form

    Get W-9 form from Internal Revenue Service

     

  2. Return the Information to
    P.O. Box 31109
    Shreveport, LA 71130
    Attn: Karen M. Barnes
  3. Your Certification affidavit will be reviewed.
  4. A site visit will be coordinated and conducted to substantiate affidavit information.
  5. An award Letter of Certification will then be issued to you.

Congratulations!

Your company's name will then be listed in The City of Shreveport's Fair Share Directory of Certified Businesses and will be distributed to all city departments and other agencies for procurement inclusion.
